Technical problems with our tutorials

I just purchased a copy of your e-book but cannot save the file to my computer. Every time I click on the save icon, the menu pops out very briefly then disappears.
You probably entered your key in the brochure to open it before you saved your sample in your computer. This is how to rectify this problem.

1 - make sure, before you proceed, that you have your activation key copied somewhere safe
2 - on your activated file, click on the Help button, top left corner
3 - click on " deactivate E-book " and follow the instructions
4 - when your  file is deactivated, please close the file
5 - on our website, please go back to the appropriate page, where you can find the link to the sample of the brochure you want to buy:
6 - on our page, click on Click here to download a free sample
7 - a box opens asking you whether you want to "RUN" the file or "SAVE" the file
8 - please select the "SAVE" option  (you probably chose the "RUN" option before)
9 - your computer asks you then where you want your  file to be saved : select an appropriate space in your computer
10 - when your new file is saved into your computer, please open your file and activate it with your personal key *
( * by clicking on "E-book" on your file, and then "activate E-book" and then key in your key. )
11 - when activated, you can save your activated file if you wish with the " Save a copy" button *
( * at this stage, you will not be asked anymore where you want your activated file to be saved as it will be saved automatically where you saved your original sample file )
I cannot print my brochure
With some computers (depending on the system you use), you can only print a brochure from its saved location.
To do so, you must save your sample into your computer before you enter your key and then save it again.
If you have not done so, you must deactivate your key ( save your key or write it down ) and start again
To deactivate and save your brochure, proceed as in answer above.
I forgot to download my sample, now I do not know where to enter my key.

I lost my activation key.
Your key is located on the email you received when you purchased your brochure. However, if you cannot find this email any more, email us on the email address located at the bottom of this page with your name, email address used when purchasing the brochure, and date of purchase and we will email your key back to you. Please let us know if you want us to reactivate it.
How do I buy a brochure from my free sample?

By clicking on the Click here to download your free sample link  you will initially only see the sample version of your brochure, or e-book.
Once you  purchase an activation key, you will get access to the full version.
Please save a copy of your free sample in your computer  - Always enter your purchased key in your saved version !

How do I buy an "activation key"?

Purchasing an activation key is made very easy:
A big orange
“Buy This  E-book  Now ! ”  button sits at the top and on the right of your downloaded e-book ( remember to save it into your computer ).
Click on the button and you will be able to pay, get your activation code and access your  e-book in no time !

I have purchased my key and have received it, but now I cannot find where is the 'activate E-book' button!
The button to activate your E-book with your key / code is situated on the top right hand corner of your sample file. 
It is the same orange button " But This E-book Now" than used for buying your brochure. 
When you have received your key number by email, please save your sample brochure into your computer before you activate it: this way you will not lose it.
Open your saved sample, click on the orange button " But This E-book Now"
A window will open asking you to enter your key. Do so, an the whole brochure will open.
If, instead, a window opens asking you to buy the brochure again, close it and the window asking to enter your key will automatically open.
Do not forget to save your brochure again once opened.
My Adobe Version 9 may not be compatible with my E-book: I cannot open it, I do not even see  a " But This E-book Now" button!
The adobe version 9 and further versions are compatible with your E-book.
If your are not seeing all of your E-book menus:
This is a known issue with Secure-Ebook version 1.2.0.0. This problem occurs when visual styles on windows
and buttons are disabled in the Windows configurations.
To make menus displaying themselves properly, follow the following steps:
1 - Open your Windows "Start" menu
2 - Right-click on "My Computer"
3 - Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu
4 - Click on the "Advanced" tab
5 - Click on the "Settings" button in the "Performance" section
6 - Check the box to the left of the "Use visual styles on windows and buttons" option
7 - Click on the "OK" button.

 
I have already bought a key, but when I go to my downloaded sample to enter the key, a window opens asking me to buy a key again.

If you have already purchased your activation key, close the asking payment window if it opens.
and enter your activation key in the new window that opens. Do not forget to save a copy of your 24 page downloaded e-book !

I  have a Mac, can I buy the brochure?
Unfortunately, no. Our E-books are for the moment only PC compatible.
I bought a new computer, do I have to buy a new key to access my brochure?
No, but you must deactivate your key from the brochure saved in your former computer in order to activate it in your new computer. If it is impossible for you  to do so  ( old computer lost, broken, etc... ) email us on the email address located at the bottom of this page with your name, email address used when purchasing the brochure, and date of purchase and we will deactivate your key for you so you can reactivate it somewhere else.
Please note:
Our material - E-book file - is protected and confined to one computer only.
It cannot be saved or transferred into another computer at the same time without purchasing a second activation key.
My computer is warning me not to download the free sample / it says the "publisher" is unknown.
You can download your free sample safely. The publisher is Prudence Millinery.
If you are still unsure, have it scanned beforehand, but it is virus free.
I purchased the E-book. I downloaded it and used the activation key.  However, when I try to open it, I only get the sample book and there is no place to enter the activation code. 
Maybe you are  trying to open your file from a different computer that the one used for downloading your sample.
The key is set to work on one computer only at the time.
If you want to make it work on another computer, you must first disable you key before you enable it again.
I saved the sample as requested several times, and the sample file does not recognise my key
I suggest you start from fresh.
Delete all the versions of the free samples saved in you computer
Download your free sample again from our appropriate Web page
Save it in a new location ( different from before to avoid any confusion), close it, open it again from its new location on your computer
Enter your key, the brochure will open, and save the opened brochure
I am at work, and I have tried saving my sample into my office computer and opening it from there, tried to insert the key again and again -but I am not getting anywhere. 
You are trying to open your brochure from a computer at work ?
If your computer at work is part of a network or linked to other computers, the key will not be able to open your brochure, as it would need to open it to all the computers in the network, and, as a copyright protection, the key is only set for one computer.
Rather than transferring your file into your home computer, I would rather download your sample from our website page directly to your home computer, save your sample,  open it and then enter your key.
I've tried repeatedly with no success to open the E-book I purchased. Each time, all I get is the sample pages and there is no prompting for the activation code.
It looks like you did not enter your activation key in your free sample.
This his how to proceed:

Activation Assistance

If you have problems opening your E-book protected by Secure-E-book or did not succeed in activating it, you will find the required assistance below. The most frequent problems and situations are described below and should help you activate your E-book properly.

I try to open my E-book but get a message that it can't find Adobe Reader, even though I have Reader installed and can read PDF files with it.
This either means that you have an old version of Adobe Reader or that the version you have was not fully installed and is not properly registered with Windows. This can happen even if you can open a PDF file from within Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. The solution is to uninstall the Adobe Reader currently installed on your computer, download the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html and reinstall it.

I try to open my E-book but it keeps displaying the message "Detecting Adobe Reader Plugging... please wait..." and the E-book's content never gets displayed

When opening my E-book, it only displays a white page
That can happen if the Adobe Reader is not fully or not at all installed on your computer. The solution is to uninstall the Adobe Reader currently installed on your computer, download the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html and install or reinstall it.

When I try to activate my E-book, after a delay I get the message that 'Secure-E-book was not able to communicate with the Secure-E-book server'
There are several reasons for this:
  • You are not connected to the Internet: You need to be connected to the Internet to activate, deactivate or upgrade your E-book.
  • You have an aggressive firewall that is interfering with the activation process. The standard Windows firewall will not cause problems, but some of the more aggressive firewalls, particularly those found in corporate networks, can make it difficult or impossible to activate or even read the E-book. Try the following:
    • Turn off the firewall while you are activating. Remember that the firewall may be separate from your computer and only accessible by your network administrator.
    • Specifically enable the Secure-E-book application in your firewall (or ask your network administrator if your are not allowed to do it yourself). The E-book requires the firewall to allow it to access www.secure-ebook.com on ports 80 and 443.
    • Try installing the E-book on a computer that is connected directly to the Internet.
I am trying to activate my E-book and it won't work even though I have turned off my firewall
It is possible that you downloaded and tried to activate the E-book after logging on to your computer using a user account that does not have administration privileges. This is a Windows security restriction. Log on to your computer using an account that is part of the 'Computer Administrator Accounts' group (see 'Control Panel/User Accounts').
My activation key does not work, it keeps telling me it is not valid
There are several reasons for this:
  • The activation key you try to use has already been used to maximum number of times. If you have upgraded or reinstalled your computer, it is possible that Secure-E-book does not recognize the computer. If such is the case, the E-book will open in sample mode and Secure-E-book will not allow it to be reactivated. When that happens, you should contact the publisher of the E-book to request your activation key to be re-set. That will allow you to activate your E-book again.
  • That will also happen if the activation key is not properly entered. To make sure you enter the key properly, select it from the e-mail you received, copy it (Ctrl-C) and then paste it (Ctrl-V) is the specific field when activating your E-book.
  • The last reason could be that you are trying to activate the wrong E-book. Some publishers have more than one E-book and you might be using an activation key that was generated for another E-book than the one you currently have on your machine. If you think that's what happened, please contact the publisher of your E-book.
I can no longer open my E-book
If you have upgraded or reinstalled your computer, it is possible that Secure-E-book does not recognize the computer. If such is the case, the E-book will open in sample mode and Secure-E-book will not allow it to be reactivated.

When that happens, you should contact the publisher of the E-book to request your activation key to be reset. That will allow you to activate your E-book again.

The E-book publisher told me I could print the E-book but it won't work
At the moment, the print function under Secure-E-book only works with English and French versions of the Adobe Reader. If you have Adobe Reader installed in another language, you will have to uninstall it and then download the US version at the following link: www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html and install the new downloaded version of the Adobe Reader.
